Because of hundreds of UNDOCUMENTED production changes, I need CLEAR photos of these EXACT PCB’s – A1 A2 A3 A4 A5 A9 A14.
One photo per PCB; photograph the entire PCB.
Simply informing me of your machine’s serial number is NOT sufficient!
ONLY by referencing these photos, am I able to make up the EXACT custom parts kit for YOUR machine.
I CANNOT ship your kit, UNTIL you have sent me these photos.
This is the complete DIY parts kit for YOU to upgrade, restore, and rebuild the A2-A3 PSU, A1 Main PCB, A5 Control PCB, and the A9 HV PCB, so that YOUR machine is essentially returned to (better-than) brand-new operating condition. The kit includes approximately 70 parts (depending on your version).
The kit includes FULL instructions, so that you do NOT have any confusion, or need to run around asking people to help you select parts, or where they should go, or what should you do about the errors in the Tek Service Manual. In short, a trouble-free overhaul, with complete peace-of-mind.
Only the highest quality 105°C components (ripple- and temperature-rated for Power Supplies) are used from the following manufacturers: Vishay, Panasonic, Nichicon, CDE, and Wima.
These are sourced DIRECTLY from the local Israeli representatives of these manufacturers (not even from 1st or 2nd tier distributors). Therefore you may be assured of absolutely original, genuine parts, which are current production, directly from their factories, with no fear or suspicion ever of counterfeit or fake parts.
No type of generic Chinese or 85°C garbage is ever sold by me.
A5 SMD Capacitors
I do NOT supply replacement SMD capacitors for the A5 PCB.
SMD capacitors of ALL types are notoriously far less reliable than the equivalent radial caps with normal leads. It’s due to the way that SMD caps are manufactured.
IF you have the A5 PCB with SMD caps, you remove the SMD caps,
replace them with the Nichicon and Panasonic radial caps which I supply
, and you bend the leads to fit EXACTLY onto the SMD pads.
THIS is the most reliable solution to replacing the SMD caps.
Hundreds of my customers (and I myself on my own machine) have done exactly that.
The objective of my kit is to deliver absolute reliability, even if the solution appears unorthodox – that’s what engineering is all about!
As an added bonus, on each of the low-value BiPolar capacitors, I have also made the investment, in my time and my effort, of identifying and marking the low-impedance lead, so that you can install them correctly, if you have the knowledge and skills to take advantage of this polarity issue. If you do not know about this, the machine will still work, but this is purely an issue of doing the work absolutely professionally.
Be aware that the success of this project is dependent ENTIRELY on YOUR technical skills, therefore there is no warranty, implied, express or otherwise, on the parts, or the outcome of the project. This is a complicated job, requiring very good technical and soldering skills, and it is quite easy to destroy the PCB, with unprofessional or sloppy workmanship. NO MORE PCB’s are available from Tektronix at all.
Generally speaking, the type of people who use oscilloscopes normally have the skills and equipment to do this job, however, I offer full restoration services in my lab, and this would be the wisest option for you, if you are NOT up to the skill level required, in order to tackle this job. In this case, you would send me ONLY the required PCB’s (which are light and easy to ship), but do NOT send me your entire machine.

VERY IMPORTANT – READ CAREFULLY
If you send me your PCB’s for overhaul, then you understand that you are sending to me ONLY specific PCB’s for overhaul, not the entire machine. You are engaging me to conduct a PARTIAL and LIMITED overhaul only.
My commitment and obligation to you, is limited to overhauling your failed PCB’s, and returning their functionality to original manufacturer specifications.
THEREFORE, if after receiving and re-installing the overhauled PCB’s, your machine still does not function correctly, then at this point, obviously, there are other unknown problems on the other PCB’s to be dealt with.
As I cannot be held responsible for things I cannot see, therefore there is NO REFUND or compensation at all, neither for the parts and labor on the overhauled PCB’s, nor for the shipping costs.
So then, I would recommend taking it to a local technician who can see the entire technical picture in a fully assembled machine, and you may rest assured that your newly-overhauled power supply is producing completely stable power, and does not require any additional work on that particular part of the machine.
Over 9 out of every 10 PCB overhauls (in this manner) result in a fully-functioning machine again, but the remaining 1 out of the 10 is going to require additional work. There is absolutely no way that I can forecast which your’s will be, without having the COMPLETE machine in my workshop.
I do not promise or commit in any manner (which would be completely foolish anyway, as I do not have your complete machine in my workshop), that your machine will work perfectly after the overhaul.
So, now that you have the complete picture, you can make an informed and conscious decision as to what you want to do.

There is a No-Returns policy on this item. This is due to Ebay’s new policies, which specify a minimum of 14-days to be offered. Unfortunately there are unscrupulous buyers who take advantage of this generous policy to buy a perfectly-fuctioning unit such as this one, remove the functional parts and re-install defective parts previously removed from their own non-perfect units, and then return a previously-perfect (but now defective) unit for a refund. No, not here.
I maintain a large inventory of spare parts, and in the unlikely event that any component should fail in the future, I can ship out replacement parts, after you return the defective one (all PCB’s and subassemblies on my restored units are specially coded to prove that they originally came from me). I regard this as a fair alternative which ensures that my customers have excellent support now, and well into the future.

b. Electronic Parts – Registered AirMail. This is uninsured, but trackable. You may specify an upgrade to EMS at extra cost. Delivery time from 7-20 business days worldwide.
c. Printed Matter – SeaMail. Because Airmail is generally much more expensive, it makes sense to ship heavyweight low-value printed matter by sea. Insurance and tracking are optional at slightly extra cost. Delivery time from 15-60 business days worldwide.
d. If you have an account with a worldwide shipper, feel free to specify them as your choice.
2. SHIPPING COSTS

We give you the weight of the shipment, so you can check the costs yourself on the IsraelPost website; Add $4.00 for packaging of printed materials, and up to $25 for packaging of large-sized expensive electronic equipment, and that’s the price you pay.

3. PACKAGING
We are proud that since we started selling internationally on ebay in 2003, we have NEVER had any equipment damaged in transit.
The reason is real simple – we make the proper effort, and don’t cut corners.
All electronic equipment is double-boxed, using the strongest materials possible.
First the equipment is packed in plastic, in its original carton, or a close substitute.
Then that carton is packaged inside another double- or triple-walled carton, with at least 5cm airspace on all sides. That airspace is then filled with polystyrene, to prevent any shocks damaging the equipment.
It is then sealed completely with strong packaging tape.
Of course, this kind of quality packaging doesn’t come for free, but we think we do a real good job of keeping your mind at peace, so you don’t have to worry about damage-in-transit.
Printed matter is first sealed in plastic wrap to prevent any moisture damage from a sea voyage.
Then it is wrapped in a cushioned envelope, or carton, depending on size. It is then sealed completely with strong packaging tape.
4. METHODS OF PAYMENT
Full payment must be made before your goods are shipped.
We accept PayPal. If paying by PayPal, you must pay me within 2 days of end-of-auction.
We also accept direct bank transfer to our bank in Israel. Once you are ready to buy, we will give you details to make the transfer.
In Israel we accept local cheques, but we require a waiting period of 7 business days to ensure that the funds have cleared.
If I do not receive any communication from you within 2 days of end-of-auction, I will treat you as a non-paying bidder.
